Always in His Corner

Paulie [BURT YOUNG] tries to offer Rocky [SYLVESTER STALLONE] sage advice in between rounds when the final round of the Academy Award-winning Rocky franchise hits theatres on December 20, 2006. Written and directed by SYLVESTER STALLONE.

And now as an added bonus, some interview questions and answers from Sly!

QUESTION: Can you talk about the legacy of "Rocky" and the influence it's had.

SYLVESTER STALLONE: Well, you know, the legacy... I never thought would ever end up being a legacy. But I guess what has come out of it is that it's a pretty universal dream to, to try to rise up and take your best shot at life. And you may not totally be successful but at least you made an out, you've had the chance. You've had the opportunity and I think that's the biggest frustration a lot of people have in their own lives is never getting a shot, you know.

Everyone keeps on saying that it is coming out next weekend, some are saying the 20th! Can you tell me if they are telling the truth or are they just making this stuff up? I don't care when it is released, I just want to know the CORRECT date, so I know when to order my tickets:), if you could please tell me the exact date it would be much appriciated:) whether its the 20 or the 22nd, IT IS NOT FAR AWAY!:) Thanks again Craig for this site, it is simply amazing!:) Sly thanks again! your work is incredible and HUGELY appriciated and loved by us all(your loyal fans) Peace - Aron Scott

I just have to get this out. Sly, if you are reading these at all...I just finished hearing your interview on Total Access on Way FM out of Nashville, Tennessee. Thanks for what you have done and thanks for standing up for what you believe. Thanks for bringing a beautiful story to an amazing close and for letting us fans be just a minute part of it. But I cannot believe you told the ending!!!!! I have been avoiding this blog for months trying to avoid all the idjuts who keep coming on here trying to spoil it for the rest of us and in a split second you spilled the beans for those of us who were waiting to experience the story in the theater. I am quite perturbed with you; however, I can't hold it against you because this sounds like it is going to be an amazing film: a perfect ending to a genius of a story. Thanks! You are wonderful!

Hopefully all of us here, hopefully love him as much as he loves Philly...cause that's alot! During the end of the interview Sly said " He walks away with a light heart, and accomplishes everything he wanted" refering to rocky of course. What did that mean?!?!?!

OK! I am pretty sure that the release date DID IN FACT get pushed up to December 20th!:) I think that it is actually official! I checked the release date on Yahoo!movies and it said December 20, which is GREAT, but I am kind of bummed about it because I have to go to school that week, and I can't go out to the movies on a school night, and I desperately wanted to see the movie on OPENING DAY:(! I wanted to order my tickets that THURSDAY night, and see the movie on FRIDAY the 22nd! but oh well! nothing I can do about it! I am just happy that I am getting the chance to see this movie PERIOD! It is the ULTIMATE dream-come-true for me! These movies mean the world to me! I adore ROCKY! They are my MOST favorite movies of ALL TIME! Sly, you ROCK! Just keep punching and don't EVEN let the Critics get to you! Some people(critics) just don't know what TRUE/GOOD American entertainment is these days and it is SAD!!! Everybody get ready, and... prepare yourselves for one of the MOST memorable movies to EVER hit the silver screen! To ALL of my fellow Sly/ROCKY fans... I WANT TO WISH YOU ALL HAPPY HOLIDAYS, A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS( this will be the BEST Christmas EVER!!!) and a WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!! RAMBO will soon be on the way!!!:) Peace - Aron Scott

Hey everyone! I just saw Rocky Balboa today at a screening in Washington DC. I am a Rocky fan for many years, and I loved it. Definitely a nice bookend to the series. The best part: Sly was there for a Q & A session after the movie. I asked how come there was no Mr. T cameo, which is what I had been expecting and he said that they only had a little money to pay Mr. T for a cameo and Mr. T turned it down because it was not enough. Sly said that Mr. T was supposed to be one of the boxing commentators, but when he turned it down, the part went to Max Kellerman. By the way, no Drago cameo either, contrary to rumor. Go see this film on 12/22!!!!!

OF COURSE BALBOA IS GOING TO LOSE. YOU CAN'T BEAT HIM FOR HEART OR COURAGE BUT AGAINST A YOUNGER, STRONGER, OPPONENT WHO IS ALSO COURAGEOUS, A WIN BY KNOCKOUT OR DECISION IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY.
THE ONLY OTHER OPTION I SEE IS IT BEING A TECHNICAL DRAW AS I THINK THE FIGHT IS GOING TO BE BILLED AS AN EXHIBITION WITH NO TITLE ON THE LINE.
BUT ROCKY WINNING ANY FIGHT WAS ONLY EVER PART OF THE STORY. THE STRUGGLE OF THE MAN IS WHERE THE HEART IS.

Rocky-Inspired Runners to Run the Art Museum Steps to Celebrate Release of “Rocky Balboa”

In the best Rocky promotion in the U.S., 40 Rocky Balboa Dress-A-Likes from Long Island, NY will be traveling to Philadelphia on Saturday, December 9th to run the famous Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and visit all of the spots made famous by the Rocky saga.

The event, sponsored by The Long Island Press and www.longislandpress.com was inspired by the book Rocky Stories by Michael Vitez and Tom Gralish and published by Paul Dry Books as well as the December 22 release of the sixth installment of the Rocky story, “Rocky Balboa.

“This is the most exciting promotion I have ever been a part of,” said Felice Cantatore, General Manager of the Long Island Press. “The Rocky films have made an undeniable impact on the world, and the Press is proud to be a part of this celebration.”

The Long Island Press, the ninth largest weekly in the United States with 450,000 readers, will run a special Rocky-themed issue on December 14.

“The Rocky movies are much more than just Hollywood films to many people,” said Cantatore. “We have selected the 40 participants after they told us their own Rocky inspired stories. I doubt that 30 years ago, Sylvester Stallone would have believed that this character would become such a product of the American psyche.”

The 40 Dress-A-Likes will all be wearing the famed gray sweat suit, black knit hat, black Converse sneakers and neck towel that personified Rocky Balboa’s blue-collar grit and hard work. Modell’s sporting goods donated all of the clothes.

The bus will arrive at the Philadelphia Museum of Art at approximately 12:30 p.m. on December 9th.

The award-winning Long Island Press, with its readership of 450,000, is the ninth largest weekly newspaper in the country, and the sixth largest in combined print and web readership. The paper is distributed throughout Long Island and New York City.

We're behind ya, Rock! You go, Balboa. Listen to that heartbeat. And keep thinking tiger, man--"the eye of the Tiger."

Rocky...Rocky...Rocky!

"You're gonna do it!"

Wow, I'm so psyched for this movie; I can't stand it. I saw Access Hollywood today where Sly was talking about wearing the hat, grey sweat clothes, and black Converse sneakers for the last time. The emotions will be out of control on movie night, I'm sure. Got your ticket yet?!!

So will we see the son of the legend step through the ropes in a Rocky VII?
It's be cool to see the story continue.

I saw the screening at The director's guild theater. I loved the way the saga was finished. i was 6 when i saw the very 1st rocky in "76". I was even more excited hearing and meeting Mr. stallone in person. I highly recomend that every generation old & young see all the rocky movies. For me these movies mean alot, it means, be the best person you can be, nothing's impossible & there's no limit to what you can be and suceed in life.

Reviewer Henry Sheehan gave away the ending to ROCKY BALBOA yesterday on FilmWeek 89.3 fm KPCC Los Angeles. Not only does this disappoint fans, it also hurts all the average people who work on films, from the costumers to the script readers, etc. because when the ending (or story) is given away, fewer people see the film and the film makes less money, so the studios can't afford to keep hiring people. Stallone will be fine! It's average working people that Sheehan hurts by giving away the film's ending.

WOW!!! I saw Rocky Balboa with my 11 year old son (who inherited my love for the Rocky series. Good thing it was dark in he theatre. I am not sure why but I cried through the whole movie. I am a former athelete and just turned 40, feeling the aches and pains of lifelong workouts. This movie inspired me to "climb a mountain" that is, participate in a triathalon I have been putting off for years.

I really loved this film. It brought me back to the reason I loved the movies from the beginning. Six films. Wow. And you know something? I can't think of too many movie series that had atleast five out of six winners. Good job Mr Stallone and thank you....

It has been great to find that many people around the world, and Fans, feel and have felt the same way about the Rocky message and Saga as I have and still do. Finding the blog site helped me to discover that I am not alone, but that millions have and will continue to appreciate the ROCKY message. 53 here and still battling cystic fibrosis. God and Dr. Robert Mckey have been the life savers. God being number one of course in all aspects of my life. But a godsend to strengthen my reslove to conitune fighting and never give-up has been the ROCKY MESSAGE! Thank you Sylvester Stallone.

Since the last post was so long, no one will probably read this. Anyway I was so disappointed with the ending. to me as a child Rocky was a hero, the only boxer with real heart. To see him lose to arrogant underachiever. He's Rocky for god sakes. What were the writers/etc thinking to make Rocky go out like that. You gave it your all, but in the end, Youth beats Heart. I'll have to make my own ending for this film, because the ending they supplied was horrible. Sly's performance was great throughout, He was just as the Rocky I remember.
